The chess pieces were produced in Greece by the renowned Manopoulos company with several decades of craftsmanship. Manopoulos chess pieces are recognized all over the world as small works of art. The chess pieces and the chessboard were made by hand with care for the highest quality.

Cycladic culture is a Bronze Age culture that occurred in the third and second millennia BC mainly on the islands of the Cyclades archipelago. Its main centers were: Syros (now Siros), Naxos and Milos. The early development of the art of this culture, up to around 1900 BCE, is related to the finds of small (on average 0.2-0.5 m high) figurines made mostly of marble, now called Cycladic idols. Our chess pieces are inspired by such figures. Small figures were placed in the graves, so they could be related to the funeral rites. It is believed that larger figures were placed in places of worship. It is also believed that at least some of the figurines created were representations of deities.
